ON-CAMPUS LODGING

Lodging on campus is the most convenient and fun way to get the most immersive convention experience. There are two options for on-campus lodging, standard dorms and South Hall apartment-style dorms.

Standard Dorms have two single beds per room with bathrooms down the hall. They’re on upper campus, close to the action.

South Hall has suites of two, three, or four separate, lockable, single-bed bedrooms that share a kitchenette and bath (two baths in the four-bed suites). Space is limited in South Hall. It’s reserved on a first-come-first-served basis, so register early. Singles in South Hall have the lowest availability, so consider sharing a suite with a friend. South Hall is on lower campus and is farther walking distance from the center of activity. The kitchenettes in South Hall have no cooking/eating utensils or supplies, so you must bring your own if you want to cook.

Sharing dorm rooms: If you’d like to share a room with another member (other than your guest), you can each register and pay separately, but please register at the same time and list your friend’s name on your form.
WE DON’T ASSIGN ROOMMATES IN THE STANDARD DORMS. IF YOU ARE NOT SHARING A ROOM WITH EITHER YOUR GUEST OR A ROOMMATE THAT YOU DESIGNATE, YOU MUST REGISTER FOR SINGLE OCCUPANCY.
It is likely we will run out of suites in South Hall by the end of registration, so if you would be willing to share a larger suite with another member (but still have your own locking bedroom and in-suite bath), please indicate so when you register. We will refund the difference in your fee if you registered for a single and end up sharing a suite.

Please indicate when you register if you wish to be on a lower floor or have other needs. If you need special assistance (ADA, allergies, etc.), notify us by June 5.

Sunday night lodging may also be added to your dorm package if you’d like to stay over an extra night.

RV Parking on campus: There are NO more RV spots available on the PLU campus. Please do not come in an RV and expect to park on or near campus. See below for off-campus RV parking.

OFF-CAMPUS LODGING

Motels/Hotels/B&Bs: If you decide to stay off-campus, check your usual online resources for area motels/hotels/b&bs. There are no motels within walking distance of PLU, so you’ll need transportation (rental car or service) if you stay off campus. There are several major-chain motor inns in Puyallup, a 15-minute drive east on Hwy 512, and a few new spots off I-5 near Bridgeport Way in Lakewood. (We suggest you avoid lodging on Hosmer Ave.) If you want something more fun or fancy, there are some swankier spots downtown (including the Hotel Murano and the new McMenamins) and two Silver Cloud Inns on the water on Ruston Way (25-30 minute drive). Or you may find some airb&b lodgings in the area. Just make sure you check the distance from PLU, as if you get too far north or south, you may encounter long drives and traffic headaches.

RVs and Camping: There are three RV parks in Puyallup, about a 20 minute drive from PLU (10 miles). The closest to Hwy 512 is at the Washington State Fairgrounds. There are also two near the Puyallup River, Majestic RV Park and Riverview Court RV Park. The closest campground, Dash Point State Park near NE Tacoma, is 21 miles from PLU and about a 40 minute drive one way.

MEAL OPTIONS
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the Commons, PLU’s dining hall which is conveniently located in the University Center (same building as registration and exhibition). They have large variety of menu options, including for special diet (vegetarian/vegan/gluten free). See the PLU Commons website to get an idea of their menu options. Meals can be purchased a la carte with cash or credit card. We encourage members to eat in the Commons: It’s quick, convenient, and economical, and you’ll find lots of luthiers there! There’s also a small store in the UC with hot and cold drinks, snacks, and other prepared foods.

There are a varitey of eateries within a short walking distance of campus. We’ll include a map of those at the registration table when you check in. And there are plenty of grocery stores and restaurants within driving distance of campus if you have a car.
