Order / Shipping Info

Order securely on this website with your credit card or PayPal account via PayPal. PayPal accepts your Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express cards, in addition to Paypal accounts. You DO NOT have to be a registered PayPal user to place an order with your credit card. Or if you prefer, you can order via the mail with a check or money order. Payment must accompany order. We do not bill, ship COD, or take phone orders. See more info below on using our shopping cart.

Allow three weeks for handling and delivery in the USA. Most US orders are shipped via Media Mail. Orders outside the USA are shipped to a mail consolidator and entered into your country’s postal system, so expect four weeks or more for delivery. Instrument plans, due to their large size and odd shape, tend to take the longest to arrive. If you are in a hurry to receive a plan (especially outside the USA), we suggest you request that your plans be folded and mailed in an envelope.

Shipping Charges
USA - $6.00 minimum, incremental increases based on the weight of your order.
Outside US - $10 miniumum, incremental increases based on the weight of your order.
Your shipping amount will show appear on your cart when you check out, or you can estimate shipping prior to checkout. Shipping charges are not applied to membership dues.

Member Discounts
One of the benefits of membership in the GAL is that current members receive discounts on all GAL publications (with the exception of the Luthier's ABC book). You can take the member discount by joining at the same time that you place your order.
IF YOU ARE NOT A CURRENT MEMBER AND CHOSE THE MEMBER PRICE, WE WILL SEND A REQUEST FOR THE DIFFERENCE AND IT WILL DELAY YOUR ORDER. We encourage you to support our information sharing system and save money on your order by joining the Guild.

Payment Outside the USA
Our website provides the easiest and safest way to order and pay if you are outside the USA. We also accept payment in US Dollars via international money order payable through a bank located in the US.
When joining or renewing, make sure to select “Outside USA” on the membership button.

Washington State Sales Tax
Sales tax is applied to all orders from Washington State addresses, but does not apply to membership dues. Sales tax of 9.5% will automatically be added to your online order when you check out. If ordering by mail, please add the appropriate tax.

Mailing your Order
If you prefer, you can mail your order with your check or money order (USA only). For credit card payment, you must use the shopping cart on this site.

You can calculate your shipping and create your own order form by using the online shopping cart: Select the items you want (“add to cart”), fill in your zip code or country in the “estimate shipping and tax” box, print out the page showing your shopping cart, and mail it with your check or money order to the address below. (You can then delete items from cart so they won’t show up on a future order.)

Helpful Hints for Shopping on our Website

The Guild's new and improved website now has a shopping cart using PayPal. If you
are unsure how to proceed, here are a few tips to help you navigate the process:

When you have reviewed your cart and are ready to pay, click “checkout.” On the page next page it will say, “Choose a way to pay.” If you want to use your credit card, not PayPal, click on the text in the lower box that says, “Don't have a PayPal account?” As it says there, this allows you to use your debit or credit card as a “guest” on PayPal. (If you DO have a PayPal account, but would prefer to use your credit card, you should also select this button - make sure you are not already logged into PayPal.) The button to use your credit card will be automatically selected on the next page, so just fill in your credit card info (Mastercard, Visa, Discover, or American Express), and you’ll be able to complete your transaction.

BE SURE TO REVIEW YOUR ORDER SUMMARY BEFORE YOU CHECK OUT. Double checking your cart will help us get the lutherie info to you quicker!
If you are not a current Guild member, did you choose the non-member price for your items? (Non-members who choose the member price will be billed for the difference, and this will delay your order.)
If you are outside the US, did you check the correct price for overseas memberships?
Are you sure you have the correct items in your cart, including the correct membership year you want?

The buyer’s info must match the info on their credit card, but if you are making a purchase for someone else, be sure to put their complete name and address in the “shipping address” section. Feel free to add “instructions to merchant” after you fill out the payment info if there may be any confusion about who we should be sending mail to. This is especially important in the case of membership renewals.

We've been serving luthiers for over 40 years, so we want you to be happy with your order. If you have questions about ordering, either before or after you place an order, feel free to contact us via email at: orders “at” luth.org. We ask that you contact us first and not “open a dispute” with PayPal before we have an opportunity to work out any problems with your order. Opening a dispute can complicate and delay your order, as PayPal will freeze your payment and we cannot ship without payment. We appreciate your assistance as we want to provide you with the best service possible.
